Praise the Lord!!!!

Almost to the day, 6 months ago Dad was diagnosed with cancer. Well, yesterday Dad had his PET scan to see if all the cancer was eradicated. We received some great news...He's free of any cancer activity!!!! They'll keep checking him every 3 months for the first year then go to an annual schedule!

Thank you all so much for your prayers, love and encouragement through this trial. As Dad continues to fully recover, please pray that the Lord will bring a new vocation for him and that his energy and strength will return.

Daddy and Lizzie Up-date

Lizzie has been doing pretty well for the last week. Tomorrow, she has a follow-up ultrasound to "see" how her pancreas is doing. So far, she's tolerated the low-fat diet and has found several things she likes to eat. Please pray that the ultrasound will bear good news for her.

Daddy is finally doing better! His oncologist put him back on steroids and literally overnight he was stronger and doing so much better! Thank you all for your continued prayers as we wait to see what's in store for him.

Up-date

Lizzie is on her way home! The Lord is showering Lizzie with His grace! Lizzie is able to eat again though she's on a low-fat diet to make sure she can tolerate food okay. On Monday, they'll check her enzyme levels and go from there. Praise the Lord for His healing hand!

Dad is still struggling. The gout is still all over and isn't wanting to go away. He's also still fighting his cold though that seems to be VERY slowly getting better.

Please continue to pray for both of their healing.

Prayer for Dad and Lizzie

Hi Everyone,
Please be praying for Dad and Lizzie. Dad has an acute case of gout that's attacking all his weak joints, i.e. his feet, right elbow and hand. Lizzie is again in the hospital though this time she has pancreatitis. This is common in chemo kids. The hardest thing for her is not being able to eat anything until her "numbers" are right again.
Please pray for healing and peace for both them and for the rest of the family.

He's Done!!!!

Well...today marked a great occasion...Dad's done with this round of radiation! He as an oncology appointment on Thursday and then they'll wait a few weeks to re-evaluate where the cancer is at. Dad's hoping to have his trach tube removed as soon as possible. Thank you all for your continued prayers!

Daddy Up-date

Hi Everyone!
Mom just called me to let me know that Dad's last chemo treatment went well last night. He's still in the "flushing" stage so they'll be in the hospital a little while today but should be discharged sometime this afternoon.
The huge praise is Dad doesn't have the stomach tube anymore!!!! His doctor agreed that he didn't need it anymore and so the surgeon removed it this morning! Dad was thanking the surgeon and instead of taking all the praise he said, "It was God who's healing you. Can I pray with you and thank the Lord for His healing hands?" As you can imagine, Dad and Mom were elated to pray with the surgeon.
In turn, they wanted me to thank all of you for your prayers, love and encouragement.

Up-date on Dad

Sorry...it's been a crazy week for us. Dad has had a tough week. He was able to spend his birthday at home with family and friends making it a special day. On Tuesday he resumed his radiation treatments and found out he has a yeast infection in his mouth, kinda like thrush. So now he's on antibiotics for that.
On Thursday he made his half-way point. Unfortunately, he's not able to keep much food down and the doctor told us that this will likely characterize the rest of the weeks until after all the treatments are done.
Please pray for strength and perseverance for both Dad and Mom. Both are getting very tired and at times discouraged.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and encouragement to our family.

Up-date on Dad

Hi Everyone!
Sorry...I've been a little busy and forgot to up-date you all! Dad is doing pretty well right now. He's starting to take all "PO" or pill form medications in order to be ready to leave the hospital. He hopes to be discharged before the weekend...just in time for his birthday on Sunday!
Thank you all for your continued prayers!

Daddy Up-date

Hi Everyone~
Sorry it's been a while since I last emailed you all. Dad had a couple of really great days and the doctors thought he could go home. However, now they think he has a chest infection and he's no longer tolerating food. He's regaining his muscle strength but he gets exhausted very quickly.
Please pray that the Lord will continue to sustain Dad and Mom and that the cause of the food intolerance as well as the chest infection will be known quickly in order to treat them.
If you'd like to send a card to Dad, let me know and I'll e-mail you the address.
Thank you all for your continued prayers.

Update

Dad's having a rough time of it right now. Dad spent most of the night battling horrible pain which kept him from sleeping much at all. On top of the post-chemo aches, he feels like he's getting gout so the doctor increased his IV fluids to try to counter act it. He was able to go for radiation today which is a good thing.

Please be praying that the pain will subside and that he won't get gout. Please also pray for Mom that the Lord will continue to strengthen her so she can support Dad and keep his spirits up.

Thank you so much for your continued love, prayers, and encouragement.

Daddy Up-date

Hi Everyone,

Thank you all so much for your continued prayers for Dad the the family. Right now, he's still in the hospital though he was able to get into a private room which is a HUGE blessing. He still has the trach tube in and is breathing much better because of it. Dad had his first "feeding" last night and tolerated it well enough that today he got to have his first sip of water in 2 days!

Mom's with him right now and is able to spend the night with him which really gives Dad added peace. This week, both Dad and Mom will be receiving a lot of teaching for his feeding tube and trach tube: pray that they will feel comfortable taking care of these vital assets.

Today he's feeling "puny" in his words and he hasn't been able to get his pain level under control. Please pray that the doctors and nurses will have wisdom in how to better control his pain level. Also pray that he stays healthy and doesn't get discouraged.

Thanks again for your continued prayers

The Marathon Begins

Well, We got a call this morning and Dad will be receiving his first radiation treatment tomorrow afternoon. He'll have the weekend "off" then on Monday morning he'll have his second treatment. On Monday afternoon, he'll be admitted into the hospital for major hydration and the first of 3 chemo infusions.

Please pray for Mom and Dad as they begin this long and tiring process.

Thank you for your continued prayers and encouragement.

Praise & Prayer!

Hi Everyone,
Today the Lord answered our prayers and Dad was able to get all his dental work done ahead of schedule! Dad's radiology appointment went well and they were able to make the mask and mouth guard. Daddy also met with the oncologist, Dr. Potter, and he really liked him (another praise!) Dad will have 3 chemo treatments: at the beginning, middle, and end. Dr. Potter told Dad that the cancer is in stage 4 though it's an "A" category. That means that the cancer is localized in one area. Dr. Potter will be consulting with the radiologist and hopefully, Dad will begin treatment within this next week.

Another praise...Mom arrived safely home tonight!

Please continue to pray for Dad as he begins treatment, and for peace for Mom as she helps Dad in the weeks and months to come.

Up-date on Daddy

Hi Everyone,
Thank you all for praying for Dad's radiology appointment yesterday. We now have a much clearer picture of what lies ahead. He will be undergoing 7 weeks/35 treatments: he will have a combination therapy of radiation and chemotherapy. The treatments will be 5 days a week with a break on Saturday and Sunday. Before the treatments can begin though, they want all his teeth in "good health". In the future, the doctor said Dad will also need a feeding tube to maintain adequate nutrition so they will be inserting one before the treatments in order to avoid an emergent situation. Over all, Dad's looking at a minimum of 6 months before he will be "normal" (though I don't think Dad was ever normal;) )

Please continue to pray for peace, wisdom and direction for both the doctors and us, and for Dad to be eligible for some type of financial aid and insurance.

Thank you for your continued prayers!
